Eco-Friendly Toilet Paper

March 20th, 2009 at 2:25 pm

We have heard many people complain that they couldn’t imagine using recycled toilet paper on their behinds, and several years ago, we agreed. Today, you cannot even tell there is a difference by the look of them. With impressed patterns and bright white tissue, you may never see the difference, and to make these tissues bright white, they do not use bleech, but rather biodegradable materials. You will not find any toxins or fragrances in these products. Let your behind be natural!

Here are the facts of two popular brands you can often find in your local supermarket.

Seventh Generation has a Recycled Toilet Paper that is 100% recycled and uses at least 80% post-consumer materials.

Marcal offers two types of recycled toilet papers. One is a part of their “At Home or In the Office” product brand and the other is a part of their “Small Steps” brand. Their “At Home or In the Office” recycled toilet paper is 100% recycled and uses at least 60% post consumer materials.

Those were the facts, and here is the review; in our opinion, Marcal’s recycled toilet paper is softer than Seventh Generation’s. So the question you have to ask is: do I want softer paper or a higher percent of post consumer materials used? For me, however, we usually look for the price at the market. Whichever product has the better deal or coupon, we purchase. At work, we have a great deal with Staples to get the Marcal toilet paper at a low price. For shopping at the store, Seventh Generation offers printable coupons on-line.
