1% for the Planet (FTP) is a nonprofit organization, established by a mountain climber and a fisherman, that has been around since 2001. Their mission is to form an “alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet.” This is accomplished by businesses donating 1% of their annual sales to environmental groups. All of the members, over 1000 worldwide, have been certified by 1% FTP, which guarantees that the 1% donation mark has been met.
